Japanese whisky distilleries
Distilleries covered by this site, sorted oldest first. This is not a complete census of every whisky distillery in Japan. Where we have verified current official visitor information, the access label links to the producer's instructions.
Visitor rules change. Check the linked official booking or access page before travelling; a visitor centre listing never means walk-ins are accepted.
Plan a distillery visit using official sources
Of 17 catalog records, 7 currently link to official visitor instructions (2 with advance-booking or access rules and 5 with other officially described visitor access). 8 have no verified visitor link; this does not mean they are open or closed. These counts come from this site's source records, not an independent live availability check.

An official link does not promise admission today. Some tours require reservations or a lottery; always verify dates, opening hours and eligibility directly with the producer.
Yamazaki Distillery
Official reservation instructions; entry and tours can require advance reservation or lottery. Check the official page before travelling.
Yoichi Distillery
Nikka currently separates casual visitor access from the production-area guided tour. Guided tours require advance reservation; the museum, tasting bar, shop and restaurant have separate casual-access rules and hours on the official page.
Miyagikyo Distillery
Nikka currently offers casual access to selected visitor facilities while the guided production-area tour requires reservation. Check the official page for current hours, closures and booking.
Chita Distillery
Fuji Gotemba Distillery
Checked 2026-10-05. Kirin says the exhibition area, shop, paid tasting, forest and observatory can be used without a reservation. Guided distillery tours are paid and require advance reservation (standard tour ¥500 tax included, age 20+). Closed Mondays unless a public holiday, then the next weekday; year-end and New Year closures also apply. The guided tour is described as Japanese-language only.
Hakushu Distillery
Suntory's current visitor FAQ explains reservation and lottery access. Check it before travelling; do not assume walk-in access.
Mars Shinshu Distillery
Checked 2026-10-05 on Hombo's Mars Komagatake page (this distillery). Facilities can be used without a reservation, but reservations have priority when busy and groups of 10 or more are not accepted. Listed hours 9:00-16:00; closed 29 Dec-3 Jan, with possible temporary closures. Tours are free and tastings are paid. Barrel-warehouse tours are currently suspended.
Chichibu Distillery
Checked 2026-10-05: no Venture Whisky public visitor or booking page was found, so the previous closed claim is not treated as verified. Occasional third-party or municipal tours are not public access. Confirm directly with the producer before travelling.
Kurayoshi Distillery
Akkeshi Distillery
Asaka Distillery
Mars Tsunuki Distillery
Checked 2026-10-05 on Hombo's Mars Tsunuki page. A reservation is not required to visit, but reserved visitors are prioritized when crowded; groups of 10 or more should reserve at least 5 days ahead. Listed hours 9:00-16:00; closed 30 Dec-3 Jan, with possible temporary closures. Admission is free and tastings are paid.
